Marcqui Akins' on the Virtues of Music and Photography

There is a highly controversial text attributed to Leonardo da Vinci, entitled Leonardo On Painting. In it, there is put forth the argument that, painting, amongst all forms of perception, is of the highest. Well, that's all well and good, but Leo never got to see color photographs of up and coming rap artists, now did he? Guessing he also wasn't too privy with the whole east coast/west coast beef.

CASTING CALL! Is there a Ray Lewis out there?

Hello Lovelies. Hoping you or someone you know fit the following description. Should be a heck of a fun shoot with the possibility for more work if it gets picked up!

SHOOT DATE: Either Wed or Thurs, April 22nd, or 23rd

STATS: Looking for Black, Male Athlete or Model. Very Muscular build, preferably with a thick neck. Ages 21-40. Should have a linebacker build, but do not have to be tall.

Project Details: Our lifestyle photographer, is putting together a shoot for a home fragrance product. We will be taking a shot from the neck up of a black male athlete and cropping in so we need someone that has a muscular neck and can look intimidating. Think Ray Lewis.

The fee for the day would be $500 flat for a buyout. Breakfast and lunch would be provided and the shoot would be from about 9am-6pm.

Really, what do the Ancient Greek sculptors have on this? We, of course, have the utmost respect for those old guys but we are pretty sure that if they were alive today they would have to give us some snaps for Marcqui Akins' latest shoot.

Making fitness gear and working out look way better then it ever does at the actual gym, Marcqui's shoot reminds us that sweating can definitely be good for you.

Aron Norman Make Wednesday A Bit Brighter

Oh my and thank goodness with the dreadful weather we have endured. Hopefully Wintery Wednesdays will never be the same again thanks to Aron Norman's newest fashion shoot. Now if only we could find a cure for those darn Mondays....

It's a Man's World (According to photographer, Marcqui Akins)

Marcqui just completed a fantastic story on one of America's biggest icons, Muhammed Ali. Model Wendell Lissimore was cast to do all the heavy lifting while Marcqui worked on training his eye to capture pictures that speak to Ali's era of greatness with a fresh, modern viewpoint. Quite an undertaking, as you can see, particularly during the fight scenes. We know they look realistic, but please don't worry, no models or crew were harmed in the making of this shoot.

FUN FACT: Wendell has actually trained as a boxer in the past.
