Sugar High: Peter Ross and Justin Jay Shoot for Sobe's Summer Fridays

What an event! Peter Ross and Justin Jay were asked to create wonderful portraits as a celebration of Sobe and simultaneously ROCK OUT. That's right, kids, our photographers pulled off the nearly impossible proverbial task of chewing their bubble gum, AND walk down the street (WITH a swagger, we might add).
Sobe's Summer Fridays , organized by Epiphany Media was quite the to-do of the summer. There was music, dancing, artwork, and of course, Sobe refreshments for the taking.
The event was held at Stephan Weiss Studio in the west village. Thanks to a great team of hair and makeup, and with an amazing Seed Reps photo crew behind them, the beautiful people were made even more so.
With the help of Shootdigital's sd: i department, giant prints of the photographers work was also on hand making appearances in the forms of Chloe Sevigney, Outkast and Tommy Lee (among others).

Right before the start of the event--notice the mood lighting?

The Glamour! The Glitz! Behind the beguiling brilliance besieging the offices of Seed Reps.

Perhaps we went a bit overboard in our touting above. Then again, once you see how devastating good looking our office is, maybe, we didn't go far enough.....
Truth be told this video is a bit dated but still fun (we think). You'll notice that we have added several photographers and a hair stylist to our roster so another episode is due out soon.

Hopefully we'll see you on-set soon!

And amidst all the hard work we also got a chance to jump in a couple of frames ourselves. Thanks to everyone for all their hard work--looking forward to seeing you all again next year!

Randi Mitev and Aron Norman shoot the cast from Bones.

Tracey Carl with Michael Strahan and Daryl "Chill" Mitchell. Part of the cast of Brothers.

Daniel Weiner with the star from America's Most Wanted, John Walsh.

Homer as you can see, was less then pleased.

Giving our best impression of Marge Simpson with her two sisters.

Did you say "B. O.?" NO, silly! BIOS!

And they are definitely fresh. Just wanted to help you all in getting to know our artists. We think they are pretty darn cool. Don't believe us? Be sure to check them out yourselves starting with their short bios. They are listed under each artists' name as a separate section on our website.

Want more? You'll just have to catch us around town or hire us on a job. Tomorrow we will be at Sin Sin Lounge for the Adhesive event starting around 6:30pm. Come find us! We are well versed in most dance steps and topics in current events so we are sure to make for some excellent company (but we never, never talk about the weather).

The Fine Art of Capturing a Poet and the Epic Feat of Peter Ross

Artists, like art, are a tricky lot to pin down. The best kind always hang a little crooked on the wall as if rebelling against being put on display and being asked to sit quietly in the space designated for them.
Like John Giorno, they are not content with a label of "poet," "painter," or even the less common trade of "candlestick maker." Thankfully, armed with a lens, Peter Ross was able to draw us a picture of the artist, Giorno in-between his poetry, painting, and performances.
And, as you can see from the portrait, he is hung--just as we expected--a bit crooked in his frame.

Peter Ross ADVOCATE(s) for his newest subject, musician Cameron Carpenter

Peter Ross recently had the opportunity to shoot the organ dilettante Cameron Carpenter for the December issue of The Advocate. Not one to be pinned down by what you think an organist should be (Carpenter studies dance and often incorporates Swarovski crystals into his wardrobe), capturing all that is Cameron Carpenter into one single photo definitely would be a challenge for any photographer. Luckily, Peter Ross was able to bestow not one, but two great images of the artist in a couple (relatively) quieter moments for his fans. We have included two of his shots below to share along with a link to the full article, here.

Please be sure to pick up The Advocate so you can see them in person!

Peter Ross and the Art of Bookmaking

Just as the right frame can work to the advantage of the painting it holds, so too can this be said for the relationship between a photo and it's printing. If our readers find that statement a bit too abstract and, dare we say, pretentious (?) perhaps they would benefit from a real-world example?
Please direct your eyes further down the page where we are proud to share the newest project from our portrait photographer, Peter Ross. Given a gorgeous framework, Peter's portraits of celebrities and artists shine even brighter in the new book published by NewPage on Centura Paper entitled Centura, Very Intriguing Paper.

We think you'll agree that even without the benefit of the fantastic paper, Peter Ross's images still resonate.
